  Chicken calicivirus

The presumed complete genome sequence of a chicken calicivirus (V0021/Bayern/2004) was submitted to the public databases on the 2nd August 2010 (HQ010042; Wolf et al., unpublished data). The sequence was 7908 nt in length with a 5 nt 5' UTR and a 105 nt 3' UTR. Two ORFs were predicted, one (ORF-1) coding for the non-structural and VP1 (capsid) polypeptides and the other (ORF-2) coding for a putative minor capsid protein (VP2). This virus probably represents a new calicivirus genus.

It is not known if this virus is related to a chicken calicivirus previously described by Cubitt and Barrett (1985).
